Matthew

Born and raised in Collinsville, Illinois, Matt has always been a head above the rest. No really, he’s very tall. But besides that, he is also smart- having majored in computers and doing IT work where he converses in a made-up language daily- funny without trying to be, caring, and good at everything he attempts. He is a quiet, not-so-closet nerd, and his laid-back demeanor and attentive ways make him one of the most easy-to-like people you could ever meet.

Kaelyn

Born in Leonard Town, Maryland but raised in Peachtree City, Georgia, Kaelyn has often been described as an outgoing, effervescent butterfly. That’s not particularly accurate, but her passionate personality makes it easy to see how someone might think this description is true. Kaelyn is a nerdy blonde who loves to have fun whether that means gaming, crafting, or going out on the town. She is intelligent and creative, adventurous and driven, loves to laugh, and is always there for anyone who needs her.

Our Story

Matt and Kaelyn’s story begins sometime in mid-2017 where they met by chance playing an online video game that Kaelyn loves and Matt loathes. They became friends from a distance over the span of two years, getting to know each other over gaming, watching movies, and chatting, until they fatefully met in person in 2019. They were both seeing other people at the time, but there was an immediate connection; Matt thought Kaelyn was cute, outgoing, playful, and kind, and Kaelyn thought Matt was attractive, despite his self-admitted questionable fashion sense, funny, charming, and easy to talk to. After this initial meeting, it didn’t take long for them to be together, and it took even less time for them to move in. When the pandemic struck in 2020 and everyone went to work-from-home, Matt caught one of the last flights to come live with Kaelyn in a 735 sq ft apartment for months. It was a trial by fire, and it was the spark that ignited their bonding and love of each other. They may have moved out of the 1 bedroom 1 bath, but they’ve been together, in close quarters, ever since.

Bonus Her Story

I thought it would be cute if Matt and I wrote the “His Story” “Her Story” pieces for each other. He completely misunderstood the assignment, but what he came up with was so much better and I love it, so I wanted to share it here:

He was the little lalafel black mage that didn’t talk very often. I mostly confused his voice with another member of our static. When he did talk it was mostly to complain about how bad black mages are (they’re not, he just couldn’t play them). He made me laugh with his dumb ramblings. I first got to see him in STL on a trip. We met at a bar with some other static members and he obviously had no fashion sense. A buttondown tee and basketball shorts... Luckily he is tall and handsome. I remember he talked about not wanting to be touched so I awkwardly avoided hugging him even though I badly wanted to. Some time later he came to visit me in NJ. In my excitement I forgot where I parked my car at the airport. Luckily he didn’t catch the first plane back after wandering the parking lot that night.
